Kingdoms Rise: Scorching Clouds does not follow conventional rules of online casino slot games. Wins in the game are allotted on the basis of clusters hence, in this game, the maximum win is 100.00 multiplied by your total bet (betting range can vary between 0.10- 2,000 credits) when 10 or more empress symbol form a cluster on the reel at once. Kingdoms Rise: Sands of Fury is a five-reel, 20-payline video slot that offers some interesting features, triggered by Golden Wilds. Every single reel contains the statue of a character from the desert city and on each reel gamers can land a Golden Wild to trigger the feature and get respins and/or Locked Wilds. The Kingdoms Rise slot series has a progressive jackpot system that is unique to these games and shared across all titles. You can see these jackpots on-screen at all times, along with details on when two of these will payout. The jackpots, from highest to lowest, are.

Slot

Kingdoms Rise the next big slot series from Playtech, and the developer promises that it will be “revolutionary”. With a number of slots that take place in various locations across a fantasy world, Kingdoms Rise is a multi-game suite that allows players to buy features from any game.

The Kingdom Rise slots are now available to play at a select few casinos and will be widely available at Playtech casinos on October 24th – so, we decided to give the games a spin and see exactly how the Feature Shop works.

What Is the Feature Shop?

When you play the games in the Kingdoms Rise series, you’ll be able to earn tokens. These can then be used in the in-game Feature Shop, where you can purchase entry into a bonus round – but not just the bonus round of the game you’re currently playing. Playtech has set up the Feature Shop so that you can purchase features from any of the games in the Kingdoms Rise series.

Our Experience with the Feature Shop

Firstly, we had to collect tokens as we spun the reels. Every couple of spins, we earned between 1 and 3 tokens at a time. There was rarely a spin that went by that we didn’t earn a token, so it was nice to see the token tally increasing steadily.

However, when I went to the actual Feature Shop, I noticed that the price of items started at 300 coins – and, I only started out with 50. So, it was my mission to collect 250 (on my budget of 25 coins and wagers of .20 coins - so I started with 125x bets).

By the time I collected 300 tokens, I was down about 55x. At one point, my balance dropped to 25x, but I manage to bring it back with a “big win” worth 35x during the re-spin bonus in Forbidden Forest.

So, I headed to the Feature Shop, eager to spend my tokens. I picked the Wild Vortex Feature, because it looked like the most generous of the bunch – but sadly, that wasn’t the case. I ended up with a win worth 2.5x my stake. It was certainly not worth the 55x I spent to collect the 250 tokens.

You can watch us trying out the Feature Shop in the video below:

As is the case with any slot, I could have gotten a lot luckier and managed to land a more generous prize from my re-spin bonus – but Lady Luck wasn’t on my side today. I also had the option of buying a more expensive bonus (Feature Shop prices go all the way up to 2000 tokens).

For the features that cost more than 300 tokens, you trigger the same feature as the less expensive option - but there are additional enhancements. This chart should give you a good idea of how it all works:

300 tokens

750 tokens

1500 tokens

Wild Vortex

re-spins with one wild

re-spins with two wilds

re-spins with three wilds

Queen’s Ritual

pick-a-prize bonus with three picks for cash prizes

pick-a-prize bonus with four picks for cash prizes, multipliers or extra picks

pick-a-prize bonus with five picks for cash prizes, multipliers, extra picks and a “win all” option

Night Owl

re-spins with one stack of two wilds

re-spins with one stack of three wilds

re-spins with two stacks of two wilds

There are also Wild Beast Feature Shop bonuses that cost a little bit more:

  • - 500 Coins: 5 re-spins with one active position (locked wilds on either reels 4 or 5)
  • - 1000 Coins: 5 re-spins with two active positions for locked wilds
  • - 2000 Coins: 5 re-spins with three, four or five active positions for locked reels

So, I did a bit of math to determine how much I might have to spend if I wanted to collect enough tokens that would enter me into the final Wild Beast bonus. Based on how much I had to spend to collect 300 tokens (70x my wager), it would cost me 492x my wager to trigger the Wild Beast Re-spins. At .20 coin bets, that would amount to nearly $/£/€100 – a lot more than I had deposited.

Still, it’s all up to chance. I could collect tokens at a much, much faster rate than I actually had. So, I might not need to spend my bet 500 times. There’s also the chance that I strike a great win and replenish my balance before I have a chance to visit the Feature Shop.

How Feature Shop Compares to Bonus Buys

Recently, the UKGC banned the use of Bonus Buy features in slots. So, games like White Rabbit and Extra Chilli, where you could spend 100x or so your bet to trigger a bonus game, have had to disable that function.

In Kingdoms Rise, you’re not outright buying the bonus. You’re using tokens that you’ve collected in-game. So, it’s a bit of a difficult one to judge. Tokens end up having a cash value, if you do the math and work out how much it cost to save up those tokens. It’s an interesting twist on gamification and achievements within slots.

If you’re going to play these games regardless, the tokens are a nice little bonus on top of some slots that are already good fun. However, if you’re going into the games to collect tokens and buy your way into a bonus, I would advise against it.

There Are Three Jackpots Available, Too

All of the games in the Kingdoms Rise series will be linked to a jackpot network. There is a Daily Strike Jackpot (which must be hit by a certain time every day), a Power Strike Jackpot (that much be hit before it reaches a certain amount of money) and an Epic Jackpot (which has no limits).

This is sure to rival Playtech’s current Age of the Gods jackpot, which has three levels. The difference, however, is that all three jackpots in Age of the Gods are unlimited – so, they’re not promised to pay out at certain points. Since two of the jackpots in Kingdoms Rise must be won by a certain time or dollar amount, there’s an extra level of excitement as each one approaches its limit.
